Therapy with Malia
Welcome! I'm Malia (she/her). For the past 17 years, my journey as a Nanny, Traveling Postpartum Doula, and Newborn Care Specialist has given me deep insights into family dynamics and the complexities of relationships. I understand the profound "what ifs," identity shifts, and constant challenges that come with expecting, growing, and caring for yourself and your family. These transitions are immense and ever-changing, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Together, we can build practical skills and foster emotional resilience, helping you manage the ebbs and flows of family life with greater confidence and clarity.
I am currently a graduate student interning under Meg Strader at Meg Strader Therapy.
My therapeutic approach is deeply relational—I prioritize building meaningful connections with my clients to create a safe and compassionate space for growth. I blend somatic and polyvagal techniques to help clients attune to their nervous system and body’s signals, fostering a deeper understanding of how their physical and emotional experiences are interconnected. Together, we work to process and integrate emotions, uncovering patterns that shape thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. By holding space for authentic expression and vulnerability, I support clients in navigating complex feelings, developing emotional resilience, and moving toward greater self-awareness and healing.
Approach
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a highly beneficial experience for those open to learning and sharing experiences with others with the same diagnosis or life circumstances. You have the opportunities to discuss what you are going through, relate to others, and learn from group members while also receiving the desirable aspects of therapy. This can be a great addition to individual therapy or on its own.
Are we a fit?
I am dedicated to maintaining an affirming space for individuals and couples, with a special focus on those who identify as QTBIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent. I also support anyone navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, communication struggles, life transitions, and more. My decade of experience as a postpartum doula, along with my work with neurodivergent parents and adolescents, has given me unique insights into the complexities of family dynamics, including marital, parental, and familial relationships. In our sessions, we’ll build on your strengths and develop practical, personalized skills to help you move forward. You’ll gain tools to manage stress, foster emotional resilience, and cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and your relationships.
